+ What is home boarding?
Home boarding is a relatively new concept based on an old idea of people looking after other peoples dogs in a home environment when they go away!
+ I'm interested, what do I do now?
Contact us to make an appointment to speak with us and meet your dogs carers and to view where your dog will be stopping.
Any issues or requirements can be sorted out at this stage.
A questionnaire will be completed by us to ensure we know all about your dog and can deal with all eventualities.
We will require you to sign a Vets disclaimer so that your dog can be treated at your expense at your own Vets, or if in an emergency at our discretion. (See FAQ's re Vets treatment issues)
To secure your booking, a deposit of three days payment will be required. Use the PayPal buttons for the one or two dog option and when asked for quantity, select 3 days at one or two dog rate. This will generate invoices for yours and our records and make refunds and payments in full easier.
A minimum of four weeks before your booking, please make your payment in full or we reserve the right to accept another booking. When paying in full, use the buttons to make payment for however many days you have booked minus your deposit paid. Cancellations after your booking may incur charges, see our FAQ's page for details.
Bring your dog and all it's own toys and bedding, food and chews to your carer and go away happy in the knowledge that your dog is on holiday too!
+ When is the fee paid for my dogs stay?
To keep things simple, a £5 per day deposit is required for either 1 or 2 dogs. This non-refundable deposit is required to cover administration costs and also to reserve your dogs place, as we are constantly turning down requests for boarding because of non-availability.
We have had dog owners change their minds about their booking without informing us, meaning we are unable to book any other dogs, losing us money and caring dog owners missing out on a place for their dogs.
The remaining balance is paid to your homeboarder on the first day of your dogs stay with them. Please discuss with your homeboarder if they prefer a personal cheque or cash.
+ What paperwork do I need to fill in?
On the booking page there are some links to an information sheet and a one or two dog Vetinarian release form. Click on the information sheet and print it off and also print off the one or the two dog Vet form. Once completed they can be brought with you when you bring your dog to stay.
+ What do you do with this information?
The information sheet forms the basis of our records and is only needed once unless anything changes. The Veterinarian release form is vital, as it means that your dog will be treated as per your wishes and at your expense, so you decide how much or even if it should be spent!
We always reserve the right to do what is best for the dog, but would never willingly go against your wishes unless neccesary to comply with legal and moral obligations.
+ What paperwork do I get?
By using the PayPal service there is a record of your booking made and invoices and emails sent to confirm payment.
+ What are the costs if I cancel my booking?
We will always aim to work with you and try to come to an agreed settlement, but in the event that a charge has to be made for cancellation, the below fees apply.
Four weeks notice £15 administration fee and return of deposit
Four weeks or less - Loss of deposit
Early return and collect your dog before the date due - there is no refund of payment.
+ Are there any extra charges or fees?
If your dog(s) stay with us over Christmas, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day are charged double, which is fairly standard in the business.
Overdue dogs are charged at the rate of £20.00 per day per dog.
Dogs with behavioural issues are charged at the rate of £20.00 per day.
+ Can I make provisional bookings?
No! Only book with us if you are sure you need our service. Please feel free to ring and chat with us about what we can do for you, but you will incur fees if you book and cancel!
+ Are you licenced by the local council?
Yes! Although some councils don't specificaly require home boarders to register, Walsall do and our licence is available for inspection when you visit!
+ Will my dog be let off the lead?
When staying with me and my family, your dog will never be let off lead, but will be on a long training line when out on free walks. I will not take the chance that I can't get your dog back to me, or he would run away or do something that he shouldn't in my care. You can be assured that I will have control of your dog at all times!
+ What if he gets ill?
As part of our admin we complete a disclaimer from yourself acknowledging your Vet and authorising treatment by he/she with payment by yourself on your return. If its an emergency, we reserve the right to do whatever is in the best interests of the dog!
+ What if my dog dies whilst staying with you?
We would endeavour to comply with your wishes in relation to your dogs remains and would liaise with your Veterinarian to seek to make this happen.
+ Can you collect and deliver the dog(s)?
Yes, if you need this service we would be happy to provide it and would charge a fee dependant on the area we were picking up or dropping to! Please ring and discuss this with us!
+ What is NARPS?
We are members of NARPS (Nationwide Associates of Registered Pet Sitters in the UK) and comply with their code of conduct and rules of membership. Please view their website for information about them. www.narps.co.uk
+ Can you look after small animals?
Yes! Although not really what we are about, my Sons would be happy to earn some extra pocket money. Please feel free to ring and chat re costs.
